Tropical Paradise About Us

Me wakeboarding in Annecy, France

My name is Thierry Dehove, and I have been living in Anguilla, BWI since September, 2002 and currently live in the beautiful Island Saint Martin. I moved to this Tropical Paradise after living in Paris for 30 years and 5 years in Bordeaux.

I worked as a graphic artist for 22 plus years which enabled me to have the free time when I needed.

My father helped get me connected with mother sea when I was 10 years old. In 1977 I went down for my very first scuba dive with my father. It was the most beautiful under water experience I have ever had.

I used to go to the French Alps each winter to ski and snowboard... I became a ski instructor for kids and it was an amazing time to share this sport with the youth”...

Thierry Dehove tropical paradise story continues:
Years later, I discovered windsurfing and realized it was my dream sport. I remember windsurfing and getting the shivers of freedom on mother sea. I practiced this sport for 10 years and have had the opportunity to ride at all the best spots in France & Europe. I met amazing people and created a social gathering that I enjoyed tremendously. I spent my weekends traveling In my van trying to find the perfect wind and waves. One thing I do regret Is not spending the time to get proper professional windsurfing lessons to improve my “style”.

I also spent a lot of time surfing in France on large waves. Surfing Is a wonderful sport too. All you need Is a surf board and you need to be in good shape.

I really though that windsurfing was going to be my sport until my old ages.. but in 2001, a good friend of mine, owner a surf shop bought a 7 meter kite (wipika) with only 2 lines...Everyone looked at this kite as though we were crazy and never thought you could actually surf and be pulled around by a powerful kite... We knew that this would be the future water and wind sport. I started taking kitesurfing lessons and really picked the sport up like a natural. I felt as though I was using my past windsurfing, snowboarding and surfing skills all In one sport. The kite surfing equipment and security systems were starting to get better and I started getting a unique feeling of freedom and was flying with this spot. I started to travel a lot and the future became clear. I sold all my windsurfing equipment to focus on this extreme and “flying” sport called "Kitesurfing"...

I ended up In Anguilla, a small island in Caribbean and I spend my weekends riding with my buddy Judd. I also have been very fortunate to meet the love of my life, Tal who now lives in Saint Martin with me.

I created this website on 2003 and since 2006 Tal joined me and the website became an official great vacations planner at the Caribbean and watersport adventures guide. Our Tropical Paradise newsletter to share this wonderful island with you. You will learn and see amazing information about beaches, hotels, ”Jazz on the Beach”, the Arawak Indians and more. I am also a passionate Kite surfer and have created a kite surfing adventure category within the site where you can get free kite surfing tips and wind reports.

The best thing happened in my life: Meet Tal on this island through my site. We got married on one of the most beautiful Anguilla beaches and on the beginning of 2008 we moved to Saint Martin, just 30 mn from Anguilla but so different.

Thierry Dehove tropical paradise story is what gave him the inspiration to create this wonderful Tropical Paradise.
