Alex Caizergues did a new kite crossing record. The French kitesurfer sailed from St Barth to St Martin in 44 minutes.

Caizergues rode the Caribbean with his 14-metre Bandit 5 and F-One gear. With good weather conditions: 15-to-17 knots of wind and a two-meter of swell. After setting the best trajectory, it was departure time.

"The first 10 minutes are super stressful, with super light wind (around 10 nodes) which does not allow me to take speed. Swell also doesn't help", explaines Alex Caizergues. "Anyway, I persisted and the wind gradually picked up to 15-17 knots, which was expected. Occasionally, I would take a look at my watch to see where I was. I felt I coudl do it, although I had never done the course before".

The Cabrinha French kitesurfer dedicated to the Blue Marine Foundation, but will not stop trying it again. "This time is not the limit and with better conditions I think I can go below 40 minutes. It will be next year!"
